2018 Summer Programs
I'm pleased to present our Summer 2018 offerings! Our program includes some returning favorites as well as exciting new camps. We are striving to meet the needs and desires of advanced level dancers with two new programs: Summer Intensive Prep Camp and Contemporary Ballet Intensive. Last year's A Midsummer Night's Dream Performance Workshop was extremely popular and this year's workshop will feature the light-hearted comic ballet, La Fille mal Gardee. We've expanded the age range for this program and it will culminate with a production at The Playhouse! Story Ballet Camp, created last year, serves students in the Pre Ballet division: those that have outgrown Fantasy Camp but are seeking a fantasy/story ballet-inspired camp experience
Registration for all programs is on a first-come, first served basis. All camps require a $100 nonrefundable deposit at time of enrollment. Camps are restricted by size in order to maintain teacher-to-student ratios that insure quality instruction and a meaningful experience. I encourage you to register early and look forward to seeing you in the studio this summer.

Each day, our little dancers enjoy class, story time, arts and crafts, snack time and more! Costumed characters come to life, visiting camp to perform and interact with the children. At the end of each week, parents enjoy a captivating performance. Campers are divided into two groups based on age. Note: Must be 3 years old on or before March 1, 2018. This unique program is designed for our middle range dancers, striving for a more rigorous experience. The Balanchine© Technique, History and Repertory define the program. Dancers will be immersed in this technique, which is designed to increase their strength, speed and flexibility on and off pointe. This program includes: Daily Pre Pointe and Pointe Work in morning group classes (two levels) and Dance History. In the afternoon, we break into daily semi-private classes for focused, intensive study. Body conditioning (e.g. Pilates, floor barre) enhances the program. All dancers come together at the end of the day to learn excerpts of Serenade. Serenade is the iconic masterpiece that George Balanchine choreographed in America. It defined American dancers and an American Style! Features in-studio demonstration on final day.
June 25–29: Balanchine© Educator Wilhelmina Frankfurt joins us for an exciting week of exposure to the "Father of American Ballet."

Ballet students who wish to improve their skills and be part of a performance this summer: this workshop is just for you. Set in the French countryside, La Fille mal Gardee (translation: the poorly-chaperoned daughter) is one of the earliest full-length ballets. It tells the story of a playful young girl who falls in love with her neighbor, but her strict mother has other plans for her! Each day we will break into two groups based on age and ability for a rigorous ballet class, followed by a pointe class for those en pointe and a pre pointe class for others. This is a great workshop for students who are ready to dance en pointe, as the two week time frame provides the perfect opportunity for an introduction to pointe work. We will work on choreography in skill-appropriate groups and then come together to work on the staging of this magical ballet.

Classic Summer Intensive
August 6 – 17, 2018
This year we are going back to the basics of ballet for our summer intensive. Our rigorous all-day program will focus on the classical technique; pointe work; variations; and partnering. Daily master classes taught by guest artists will expose the dancer to a variety of teaching styles. Contemporary ballet and stretch and strength classes will round out the program.
Summer training is essential for aspiring dancers, as flexibility, strength and technique can diminish over the long summer break. Summer session offers the ultimate in convenience: you pick the days and weeks you want to take class and you are billed at the end of the session for the classes you've taken. The best news: you'll come back strong and well-prepared for fall ballet and Nutcracker season. Daily two hour classes meet from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Greenfield studio. Please note: The week of Aug 20-24 has a special focus on Nutcracker preparation for all dancers-variations will be taught!
Jazz has made a huge impact on the history of dance in America. This is an interactive dance education through the ages of Jazz with Stapleton School's Bella Qureshi. Don't miss it!
Meets: 9:30 am to 12:00 pm
Sessions: Monday-Friday, July 9-13
